Trump violate our Acceptable Use Policy, which prohibits the promotion or support of organizations, platforms, or individuals that threaten or condone violence to promote a cause, ”said a Shopify spokesperson. in a report.

Trump’s Shopify ban follows similar movements from Facebook and Instagram during the remainder of his presidency. It’s a move CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he made after Trump “[used] his platform to tolerate rather than condemn the actions of his supporters on Capitol Hill.

Twitter deleted several of Trump’s tweets on Wednesday and locked his account for 12 hours, but it is expected to be used again on Thursday.

YouTube deleted a video of Trump, but did not say if it would take further action. Meanwhile, Snapchat has indefinitely locked Trump out of his account.

TrumpStore.com is the official store for Trump’s real estate company. Shop.DonaldJTrump.com is run by its campaign.

It’s a landmark move by Shopify, but on Thursday similar Trump merchandise sold on its official sites – including an ugly Keep America Great Christmas sweater and Trump gift wrap – were still available on e-commerce sites. popular like Amazon, Walmart and eBay. The lists appear to be mainly from third-party sellers. The platforms did not respond to requests for comment on their intention to remove one of the lists.

Trump’s online stores last summer were the target of a cart abandonment program by TikTok users who hoped to waste campaign advertising dollars on unsuccessful retargeting efforts.
