When Anisha Raghavan landed the role of Walgreens Boots Alliance, she was not originally looking to become CMO yet. She was actually pursuing new interests: she had just jumped into a mainstream tech start-up to broaden her skills and was hustling herself as an oceanographic research intern studying the behavior of humpback whales when she was approached. by executive recruiters for CMO roles.

Anisha’s journey to CMO began at a similar time to this. It was the 2001 recession and she lost her first post-graduate job before she even started it – then arrived on September 11. But that didn’t deter her. Anisha moved to New York City just two weeks later with a three-ring binder full of conversations she had had with people in the industry and landed a job with Gray Advertising a month later.

From there, she made a name for herself with brands like Unilever and PepsiCo, with expertise spanning traditional brand marketing and digital marketing. She has helped launch amazing work like MAKERS and has built entire marketing practices from scratch for brands like StriVectin.
