Great caution | Seth’s Blog

Lawyers are fond of this.

And sometimes the parents too.

At least you won’t be blamed if something goes wrong.

It turns out we don’t need a lot of caution. We need appropriate caution. They are different things. Great caution is wasted.

Things like ripe avocados and morels are great to have in abundance. By definition, however, great caution isn’t just more than we need, it’s more than helpful. Because we get addicted to feeling.

We can always reduce the risk even further. But the cost is that we will increase other risks.

Please do not avoid proper precautions. It matters to you and to the community. But seeking solace and peace of mind in trying to reduce the risk to zero doesn’t help either.

Connection, possibility and forward movement are tools for resilience and healthy living.
